It is our firm belief that every Resident is an individual in their own right and this philosophy is reflected in our activities diary. Oaken Holt employs are two full time activity co-ordinators, one of which is a fully qualified Registered Mental Nurse.

A variety of entertainers visit on a regular basis with musical afternoons proving to be particularly popular. Firework night  the Christmas carol concert which is followed by a buffet supper and event days, such as Lady's day at Ascot, are all events that are greatly enjoyed by Residents,  relatives and staff alike.

Oaken Holt has a specially adapted mini-bus fitted with an electric lift to facilitate wheelchair users; outings are great favourites for all and specific requests, wherever possible are accommodated. There is also a Company car which is used by small groups of three or four, accompanied by a carer, for shopping, visits to  tea rooms, or a venue of common interest that has been particularly chosen  by the group.  National Trust houses, gardens, wild life parks and trips on the canal and to the sea side are an example of some of the day trips that larger groups have enjoyed.  A mouth watering picnic is always provided and the excursions prove to be very special and memorable.

With the City of Oxford only three miles away the facilities  available are within easy reach. Theatre, cinema, concerts, museums, art galleries and of course shopping are virtually on the door step and many of the more independent Residents make full use of these on  a regular basis. for the more dependent, or indeed anyone who chooses, Oaken Holt arranges outings to these places of interest and relaxation.

The favourite pastimes of fishing and golf can be easily indulged. Farmoor Reservoir, within site of Oaken Holt, can be fished  and there are numerous golf courses within easy reach.
